Album of the Week

I'm a couple days late, meant to post this Tuesday. My bizzle.

This album has been out for quite a while now so I find it quite odd that I'd pick this album to be my "Album of the Week". Maybe cause it came out on my birthday and after waiting in line at the Price is Right, (Bob Barker and I have the same birthday. I made us shirts) then blazin with Ozzy and Mels, I walked around Second Spin stoned as fuck looking for this bitch. "Good Times". I try so hard to get off Jeezy's nuts but this nigga right here, nigga. Hot damn. I love it. For seriously.

15. I Got Money (ft. T.I.)
16. The Inspiration (Follow Me)

There are some really good producers on this album. Shawty Redd, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Timbaland... And there's a grip of sampling going on here. Clearly #4 ('J.E.E.Z.Y.') is my favorite. Cause "Janet like to drank, Janet like to smoke, Janet don't know nathan bout no fuckin coke..."

If you guys don't have this album, I suggest you get it, STAT. Then go get "The Recession" if you don't have it. That shit is hot too... And my President is black.

Huddle Up

If you really knew me, you would know... that I love Musicals. Live, soundtrack, films, whatever. I love everything about them. I believe my life should be a Broadway Musical and plan to hire someone to play trumpets whenever I enter a room.

Anyways. GPriest bought us tickets to see RENT. Anyone who knows me knows that's probably the easiest way to my heart. We'll see how it all works out cause some of you know how Wicked went down (he bought us tickets then we broke up and he sold them on CraigsList without telling me. bastard!)

Today, while mentally running down my list of favorite Musicals, I decided that I'd like to make a black version of Wicked. Like The Wiz but better cause this time, Michael J would be the yellow brick road and Seany J would be the Scarecrow/Director/Choreographer.

Speaking of black versions of things, I'm gettin a weave. To get in touch with my "roots". Holler.

My Way

For some reason (meaning I had an idea put into my head that I didn't create on my own...) I've been singing Usher's 'My Way' all day.. Of all songs in the world. I want to blame Douche cause he's the only one I talked to today but then again, I think C.V mentioned Usher amongst his Beyonce phone call rave. Still not too sure.

I contimplated music a lot today. Like why is Lady Gaga on rotation at 4 different radio stations that are playing in my car right now but I'm still "broke"?? And why aren't the people I believe in getting their shit put out there?

BMore challenged me to music trivia today and I failed the first question "A song sampled by Puff Daddy and Mase was then later sampled by Ice Cube. Name the Ice Cube song..." Seriously, 'Check Yo Self'. Which I should have been aware of thanks to the CLTs at Hollywoodland "Check Yo Seeeeelf!!" (Only like 3 of you would understand that last statement. I miss Camp like no other.)

Anyways, I've been slackin on my pimpin. And more importantly, I believe the industry is lacking content. I no longer get that feeling like when 'Ready to Die' or 'Chronic 2001' dropped and had every nigga from the block blasting it at the courts on Saturdays.... That feeling where things are good, talent is being showcased, and the hope for a better musical future was at stake. Like when I was 14, forging fake absent notes and waking up early Tuesday mornings excited to go cop that new shit. And being happy with the fact that hip hop was still alive (Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, anyone? Tell me you weren't excited for that shit 10 days after listening to it nonstop). I miss that, I want that.

I used to have this uber close friend, which I'm sure I'll go into detail about later but, he always gave me hope that music was evolving (Neva. Check him out, or not...). Creating, producing, enticing, exciting. I used to feel that no matter what, things would be good. Now I feel like anything that's being made is being put out. I don't agree with that. "Artists" should only put out their best shit for others to listen to. There should be nothing but Top Notch quality on the shelves right now.

If it were up to me, the guy with skills selling his shit out a trunk and posting free downloads via Myspace would get what he deserves... Thats the world I want to live in. Thats what this world needs.

12+1 then 4

I first met JTor after a friend's show at the Cobalt. We discussed the navy and good wine. He was carrying a Thievery Corporation CD in his pocket. Clearly, I was intrigued (Have you heard of Thievery Corporation? Anyone smart enough to carry this around in their pocket must be an interesting individual).

For some reason, when compiling some of my favorite albums of all times, the night I met him came to mind. I won't go into too much detail of the evening for the fear of exposing myself in a way that I am not ready for but I will say this; we still talk. He's the reason I blog here and not somewhere else and I'm glad I know him. And he owes me a Hollywood Thai Massage with a happy ending...

I'd also like to mention Mr. BMore. I love this guy but wouldn't normally admit that for fear of coming off as "weird" (most people don't understand the many forms of love but he's pretty awesome and I kinda hope he's not reading this :-/). He reminds me of good music. I think I'd like to name him as the inspiration for this blog (teehee). Now on to the point...

Here are a few of my favorite albums of all times. Not in any particular order and by no means are any my "favorite" because I have yet to figure out if I even have a favorite album. I'm listing Fiona first because til this day, it's one of my favorites to listen to often and still my favorite gift to buy people. Enjoy.

Re- Intro

3/19/09 12:57AM

I originally had a bunch of blogs about me and my life and my insanity. They have been moved. Here is what I have left: the stuff I want everyone to be a part of.

My hopes are that I can use this forum to not only express me but the many great and amazing things around me; the things I find important.

And I hope you enjoy.
